Charlie and Gladys, Reborn!

For a number of reasons, I have decided to part way with my previous publisher, and I’m reissuing Champagne Charlie and the Amazing Gladys, re-edited and with a new cover, available 31st August, 2025. The novel follows drunken aristocrat the Hon. Edward ‘Charlie’ Decharles (who is investigating a murder) and talented Australian music-hall performer ‘The Amazing’ Gladys Dunchurch, who is investigating a kidnapping. They soon discover that the trails of their respective mysteries not only overlap, but lead to the sinister forces behind caloric-steam power and a conspiracy that reaches all the way from East London to the Moon. As if that wasn’t enough, coming out at the same time is the long-awaited sequel The Grimsdale Claimant. Following the events of Charlie and Gladys, control of the world’s largest private fortune is contested by an uncooth butcher from Bendigo. Is he really the son of the late Lord Grimsdale? Or is he a pawn of the esoteric occultists of the Archaeophytic Order – or perhaps their rivals in Her Majesty’s Office of Statistical Calculation. Can Gladys (and to a lesser extent Charlie) solve the riddle of the Claimant before the Order and the Office come to blows in a conflict that will destroy London itself? Both books feature covers that I am very proud of – mostly because I made them myself. Mostly, they’re composed of scraps I had in my shed, though I did have to buy a brass rod from a hobby shop to make the Claimant one.
